Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What are some helpful hints you can give me for raising my new puppy?

  • You must always reinforce that you are the boss. Your puppy will constantly test you to see what he can get away with.
  • Teach your dog the "sit", "come", "stay", "down", and "leave it" commands. Schedule in your training with Jenna Bobitech.
  • Do not reward barking or whining with attention!
  • Puppies love to chew things Teach your puppy that his toys are for chewing. If he chews on anything else, say "no" in a firm voice. Give him a chew toy, and praise him as he starts chewing it so he will learn the correct behavior.
  • Confine your dog to a chew-proof area when you can't supervise her. A dog crate is the safest place for your dog when you can't be present to supervise.
  • Spray the furniture and cabinets with Bitter Apple Spray to minimize chewing.
  • Make sure that electrical cords are unplugged or inaccessible.
  • Spend more time with your dog. Give him plenty of exercise, especially before leaving him alone.

Q. What's the deal with microchipping?

Microchipping your pet is very important.  It gives you indisputable proof of ownership should your pet be lost or stolen, and makes it easier to trace you as the owner.  Everyone scans pets for proof of identification now- vets, SPCA, animal control, etc.  It is a good thing to have a microchipped puppy.  The only places that do not offer it are not willing to spend the money chipping your pet for you, and they give excuses such as the puppy mill refuses to offer microchipping, or other ridiculous reasons.  A puppy from a reputable breeder or pet store will always be microchipped!  Lack of knowledge shows ignorance, do your homework.
